Put yourself in the shoes of a Plato’s student, through a productive and joyful philosophical quest, featuring dialogues and a debate.

This workshop takes place at Plato’s Academy Park, the historic location that hosted the world’s 1st Academy. It lasts approximately 2-3 hours and is designed for adults and teenagers age 14+. It begins with a visit to the small Plato’s digital museum, provided it is open and operational. A philosophical warm-up comes next, where you read aloud phrases in ancient Greek (!), and comment them together with your interpreter. You then walk across the park for about 400m, until you reach the ruins of the ancient Gymnasium. You will then settle (sit on a mat or pillows) in the nearest shaded place, as your instructor presents a short timeline of the ancient Greek philosophy, explaining the historical connection between Socrates-Plato-Aristotle. It continues with a philosophical quest based on the famous ‘’Allegory of the Cave’’ from Plato’s book ‘’Republic’’, given with the Socratic method; a shared dialogue between teacher and students. In the end, you will apply your thoughts in a debate; it is a role-play on a given case scenario, where you are required to prepare your speech and speak and persuade your audience, within just a few minutes (time is counted with our replica of an ancient water-timer).
